One month ago, I had to take my baby girl to get her first shots; not a pleasant day for anyone. I was dreading it, even the nurse felt bad for having to administer the needles. The only one smiling was baby... because she had no idea what was about to happen.
With my first daughter, she cried a little and then slept a lot, I was hoping for a similar reaction this time around. No such luck.
That afternoon, my baby's temperature rose and she started screaming inconsolably. If you have ever tried to comfort a screaming baby without any success, you know the kind of stress it can create.
Thankfully, my mom was over, and she ran to the pharmacy to get some baby Tylenol. Every muscle in my back was tense as I paced the hall with my hysterical baby waiting for my mother’s return.
When she handed me the Tylenol, I read the instruction for a dosage, and this is what it said for children 0-6 months: Consult a physician.
So, there I was, baby screaming while I phoned my doctor’s office. Do you know what the receptionist said? “I’ll have to ask the doctor and call you back”.
More pacing.
More screaming.
Finally, the phone rang, and I was able to ease my baby’s pain. After a short time, she calmed down, and then she went to sleep.
I am not a physician, so I can’t advise you on the dosage, but I will tell you not to forget to ask your doctor about Tylenol before leaving your appointments for your baby.
